When Boyarde was asked to create and hand paint two unique 'surrealist' artworks using the classic Mr Casual and Midinette as her canvas, it was easy to marry her playful signature Pop Art style with the sophistication and elegance of Belgian Shoes. Known for layering references found within the iconic and familiar with a personal twist, Boyarde created a colourful narrative, combining the outer world thought-provoking imagery of Magritte and peppering it with the inner world personal passions of Belgian Shoes clients such as animals and iconic landmarks. This resulted in the understated fantastical, a pair of artworks to enjoy from up close and admire from afar.
Strength In Elegance
Focusing on key elements to create a palette that balanced femininity with power and charm, Boyarde put the spotlight on one of Belgian Shoes favourite animals, the Belgian Malinois; smart, confident and extremely loyal, this strong breed shows its grace and honesty amongst the floral scatterings and surrealist elements. The result is a visual feast rich in meaning and understated elegance.
The World At Your Feet
From Head to Toe! Leading the way, Boyarde ensured that her palette of classic surrealist imagery combined with iconic landmarks, were carefully and literally layered within the elegant shapes of Mr Casual, to show the craftsmanship of the shoe and its exquisite hand-stitched seams. Boyarde's idea was simple, to create an artwork that screamed elegance and masculine style and to have the world at one's feet: literally!
